Fieldwork Services

Our fieldwork services include designing and delivering archaeological evaluations and mitigation through excavation. We also record and analyse historic buildings and caves.

As a Registered Organisation with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists, we deliver all our services to a verified standard.

We work with you to create cost-effective, proportionate fieldwork programmes for your project. Our managers understand budget constraints and the variety of development projects and their challenges. We use a mix of non-destructive methods (like geophysical survey), traditional excavation, and modern digital recording techniques.

We work with clients in the aggregate industry, including CEMEX and TARMAC, implementing long-term, ongoing surveys and excavations that fit around their schedules, to minimise project delays. Our fieldwork services cover a wide range of projects, from short watching briefs for private clients to years-long monitoring and excavation for large commercial companies such as VINCI and MUSE Developments.

Evaluations

Site evaluations help assess the archaeological potential of a site. We provide techniques from fieldwalking and geophysical surveys to trial trenching and monitoring geotechnical investigations.

Mitigation

We deliver efficient, effective solutions to reduce development impacts, combining traditional fieldwork with modern digital methods for mitigation.

Caves

Our cave specialists survey and study Nottingham’s caves using inspections, laser surveys, and geoarchaeological methods to help conserve them.

Historic Buildings

Our historic buildings service can record, scan, analyse, and interpret building fabric to support planning and development projects.
